Coming from a Hip Hop Purist...this is a SOLID list. Only one id say is 2020. I'd say "Pray for Paris" - Westside Gunn

I would have loved to see Hardcore for 1996- it was a revolution in a lot of ways- but great list nonetheless!

Thanks so much! Unfortunately, ‘Hard Core’ didn’t stand a chance against other competitors, but you can make a case for that.

Damn a lot of sensitive people commenting. This is what makes hip hop great. It causes discussion & debate. Ok u may differ...Ok. I have my differences also...01 Blueprint maybe? The Fix, Amerikkkas Most...whatever...all in all solid...keep it comin. But no crying in hip hop 😁💯

More bullshit east coast bias. Y'all clowns think y'all the best . That's why y'all sounds is dead today. 2017 is no dope on Sunday aoty. 2015 Scarface Deeply Rooted. 2022 The Game Drillmatic

Your comment on this list (which WE created, not YOU) is about as nuanced as a hammer in a china shop. First, calling out an “East Coast bias” when the picks for 2015, 2017, and 2022 are all from Kendrick Lamar shows that you might need to check your geography. I laughed my behind off reading your comment. Your argument for 'Drillmatic' as the album of the year in 2022 is as convincing as a politician’s promise during election season. It's like choosing to eat a stale cracker over a gourmet meal.

How disrespectful. Everyone knows that in 1996, All Eyez On Me-2pac was everywhere.

Just because it sold half a million records and dominated the charts does not mean it’s a superior album. We voted on albums based on quality, not impact, and I can name a plethora of better albums in ‘96 than ‘All Eyez On Me,’ which is a dope album (the second disc has tons of filler) but not his best.
