The Netflix documentary about the USA for Africa's all-star cantata is a morality tale with some moments of truth, like when His Bobness has to play his part and can't do it.
Also Bob Dylan was not well. It was clearly visible. The amount of energy from the performers in that room would definitely be overwhelming. It was a great documentary and brought back some wonderful memories of great times.
If you’re going to write about music you should probably have some basic understanding of how it’s made. Most of what you observed in the Netflix TV show is common in recording sessions. Probably the biggest surprise is how much of a jerk Stevie Wonder was.
Stevie a jerk? How so? If it weren't for Stevie this person wouldn't be writing about Bob Dylan because he probably would have left in frustration. He called upon Stevie to help him understand his part better and Stevie delivered. From one genius to another. Are you referring to the Swahili bit? Well Stevie is an artist and he was just letting his mind roam free. The others helped him realize that wasn't necessary for the project just as he would help Dylan later on. So when exactly was Stevie a jerk? No mention of how Waylon Jennings walked out because of the Swahili which was not even going to make the final cut anyway? How is this man not a jerk for making it about himself and not wanting to sing in an African language? Some might even say he was being a racist. Yet you have criticism for Stevie? How curious.
